HISTORY

Bel Air Estate is a family-owned estate that was founded by James Wilson in 1854 when he purchased the land from the previous owner, Mr Coriolis. In the same year, he built the magnificent colonial house that still sits in the heart of the estate today. His son, James Albert Wilson, expanded the company by purchasing the Benares, Senneville and a part of Bel Ombre sugar estates. These were later sold.

The direct descendants of James Albert Wilson currently own and manage the estate, following the spirit of his legacy that he passed down to us in a letter to his children.
