ABOUT THE COMPANY
PERFECT PRACTICE
Bel Air, along with its neighbours, has some of the most fertile agricultural land in Mauritius. We value the soil that we cultivate, and strive to maintain it at its healthiest at all times. We do this by performing regular and complete soil analyses, and making the corrections required in order for the soil to be in balance.
This provides the plant with the best conditions for growth, and reduces the need for pesticides as the crop is better able to defend itself. This reduction in use of pesticide aids the environment and the people who work with us.
A SENSE OF UNITY
We value our team; they are the backbone of the company. It is with their efforts that we are able to succeed in our objectives. We have a team of highly qualified and motivated employees, who often go above and beyond to get the job done. Bel Air wouldn’t be where it is today without them.
A LEGACY
Patrick Rountree Wilson (GOSK), the current patriarch of the family, managed the estate from 1970 to 2006. It was his foresight, through the first mechanisation of fields that took place in Mauritius, that enabled to company to prepare itself for the future. The current economic climate has made it difficult for sugar producers in Mauritius, and has prompted us to seek alternative crops that can better guarantee the company’s future.

FOR THE FUTURE
Our family has cultivated sugarcane here since 1854, but we are now also producing potatoes and many vegetables, and a multitude of tropical fruits. We pride ourselves in using the most modern techniques to grow great tasting crops with a minimum of pesticides.
